My Story

DR. MIRIAM O. EZENWA, PhD, RN, has one of the world’s most resilient personalities, is a motivational speaker, and is an author whose story of strength and success has inspired many. From experiencing poverty, violence against her family, sexual assault and rape, homelessness in America, and the untimely deaths of three loved ones, to becoming an entrepreneur and nursing professor at one of the top state universities in the United States, Ezenwa’s courage and resolve to say, “rape doesn’t define me,” “I can overcome adversities,” and to tell others “I can turn your life around,” have motivated her students, relatives, and friends to break through barriers of shame, cultural codes, and negative mindsets to unlock their potential.

As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Strongest Me – a company with a mission to inspire and empower individuals to leverage their inner strength and develop the mindset, strategy, timeline, and accountability necessary to excel in their personal lives and businesses – Ezenwa is developing programs and tools that will transform people’s lives as they take individual or collective journeys to live their dreams.

Ezenwa is also the author of THEY Live in My Tainted Soul (penname: Miriam O. Everest), and an upcoming memoir, The Courage of a Dancing Lioness.

Ezenwa’s astonishing story of transforming herself after horrific experiences spanning three decades to leading her own company and training future generations of nurses is the motivation behind her courageous mission to teach others that it is possible, despite adversities, to achieve success. “Today, fans, past and present students, relatives, and friends admire Ezenwa for her ability to motivate people to realize incredible goals and take advantage of their endless potential.

Among the esteemed awards and honors conferred upon Ezenwa for her substantial work are New Investigator Award by the Health of Diverse Populations Special Interest Group of the Midwest Nursing Research Society; Mayday Pain and Society Fellowship to advocate for better pain care for patients with sickle cell disease; Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing – Alpha Chapter, Academic Excellence Award; John F. Kennedy, Jr. Institute for Worker Education; Ronald E. McNair Scholar; National Collegiate Nursing Awards Recipient; and Columbia University-Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain Awards Recipient.

Ezenwa is a guest speaker, sought-after presenter and a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Pain Society, International Association for the Study of Pain, Golden Key International Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science.

Ezenwa lives, learns, plays, and works in Florida, collaborating with her resilient and brilliant team who are committed to helping others proclaim, “I have become The Strongest Me.”
